Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Pathetic Installation Service Lost $200 on it

Full disclosure: Im a LG lover and fan 4 LG TVs and all appliances but one are LG However this was the first time I ordered an LG appliance from lg.com the Chimney hood was not available from the popular warehouse from where I typically buy all our LG products from. When ordering I purchased the installation service for $200. I understood that the delivery company was also in-charge of the installation. On the day of the install the delivery person walked in with no intent to install. When I reminded him that I had purchased the installation service his body language indicated that he was aware of it but was not keen on installing it. When I insisted that I need the appliance installed he halfheartedly opened the box soon after opening he mentioned he doesnt know how to install it. He asked me to call LG.com and inform them when I reminded its their RXO services responsibility he said hell inform his manager. As soon as he left I called LG.COM customer service and informed them they called RXO services and asked them to schedule the installation and then asked me to call a person at RXO to schedule it which I did and requested them to send a person who knows to install the hood as the delivery person didnt they promised to send a person with experience. However on the scheduled day there was no notification whatsoever and ultimately nobody showed up. This happened one more time I called RXO the next day and shared my experience and scheduled again given my experience with them on the morning of the scheduled installation I proactively called their office to remind about it I also shared about my prior experiences with their no-show and requested that somebody show up that day. They were very polite and promised that they are reaching out to the field person to ensure that installation happens that day. I lost patience around 5:30 pm and called their office again and was politely told the installation will happen that day nobody showed up though I did NOT call them the next day as I wanted to see whether they have the courtesy to call and share the reasons however nobody called as they appeared to have conveniently forget about it I lost my patience with lg.com and RXO services and simply called an installer who helped install one of my LG appliances I bought through a major warehouses installation service. As I was in a rush I ended up paying about $370 including hardware and such however I got it installed as the install was already delay by a couple of weeks by then. Few days later is when lg.com and RXO services started reaching out to me with reminders to schedule the installation I got so irritated with the frequent reminders I called lg.coms customer service and shared my experience and my loss in installation expenses and asked for a refund of the $200 I paid for the installation. Based on the details I provided they agreed to refund to my credit card $200 in six business days. That was about three weeks ago and I havent received the $200 refund that was promised. Today I received an email from LG which said Now that youve had some time to enjoy your new LG LG STUDIO 36 WALL MOUNT CHIMNEY HOOD we want to hear what you think. This is what got me to write this review Please refund my $200 installation fee as you and your provider didnt install the hood and I had to pay somebody else to install. As you are not good with providing the installation service please make all your latest products available for sale at big warehouses which know how to deliver install and provide excellent customer service. Remember this is coming from a LG lover. Even I was so frustrated that I wanted to consider some other make than LG if this kind of service continues even I may jump ship :

Arrived damaged TWICE

I have ordered this twice now and both arrived with huge dents in the front. This has already delayed my kitchen renovation by 3 WEEKS and now I have to order from somewhere else and wait another week.
